Turkish FM Cavusoglu visits Skopje

On Sunday, Turkish FM Mevlut Cavusoglu paid a visit to Skopje, where he held several meetings. At the meeting with President Gjorge Ivanov, they discussed the issue of further deepening bilateral relations and increasing cooperation. Ivanov said Macedonia highly appreciated Turkey’s support in terms of the use of the constitutional name and Macedonia’s road to NATO integration. Cavusoglu, on his part, reaffirmed his country’s support for Macedonia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integrations. “The Republic of Turkey will be consistent with that continued support,” the Turkish FM stressed. Cavusoglu also met with PM Zaev. The Turkish FM announced full support for the government’s work. “I am convinced that the new reform-oriented government is opening Macedonia’s path towards the EU and NATO,” he stated. Also, Cavusoglu expressed his country’s support for Macedonia’s on that path. Zaev said the new government was strongly committed to the reforms of importance to Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic integrations. The Turkish FM held a meeting also with VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski. They discussed the Turkey-Macedonia relations, Macedonia’s strategic interests related to the Euro-Atlantic integration process and the current political situation. Gruevski, among other things, thanked the Turkish FM for the Turkish support. The Turkish FM also met with his counterpart, Nikola Dimitrov. They discussed the relations between the two countries, the road to EU and NATO membership, Macedonia’s priorities, the political situation in Macedonia and beyond.
