Eat, drink, and be merry. Dine in or carry away. Whether you like traditional Macedonian food or if you prefer Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Mexican, Italian or Vegetarian cuisine, you will find it in Skopje. Places where you could feel the Macedonian spirit and taste the best Macedonian food are the national restaurants, usually full of traditional decorations, wood carvings and friendly atmosphere.

The well-known Macedonian “kafana” is a tavern where traditional Balkan music is played and a wide range of delicious Macedonian food is offered for reasonable and accessible prices. A couple can have a salad (in Macedonia normally accompanied with rakija i.e. brandy – like the Italian Grapa), a soup, main course (usually grilled meat), and a bottle of a decent wine, for approximately 20 Euro. In better restaurants the main course can cost maximum 10 Euro, unless it is some imported see fish.

Better Macedonian wines in better restaurants cost around 20 Euro, and the best ones – up to 50. What is important – we do not know a foreigner that does not like the cuisine, especially the salads and breads. Vegetables do taste like they should, and there are also some good wines. All kinds of international restaurants are also there to serve you. Enjoy your meal!
