“Energy sector lacks any type of strategy, which could cause long-term consequences to the country,” President Branko Crvenkovski warned.
As energy capacities and coal resources are limited, President Crvenkovski expressed his view publicly on a few occasions, stating that the country should participate in the construction of Bulgarian nuclear power plant Belene or make efforts to take some of Kosovo coal potentials under concession for the needs of REK Bitola. “Unfortunately, the government has not provided any reaction,” Crvenkovski underlined, pinpointing that he has called upon all governments on a number of occasions that the funds from ESM sales be used in investing in energy capacities. The nuclear power plant Belene is being constructed by Bulgarian NEK whilst German company RVE is a strategic investor with 49% ownership.
