Places where you could feel the Macedonian spirit and taste the best Macedonian food are the national restaurants, usually full of traditional decorations, wood carvings and friendly atmosphere. 

Macedonian “kafana” is a tavern where traditional Balkan music is played and a wide range of delicious Macedonian food is offered for reasonable and accessible prices. A couple can have a salad (in Macedonia normally accompanied with rakija i.e. brandy – like the Italian Grapa), a soup, main course (usually grilled meat), and a bottle of a decent wine, for approximately 20 Euro. In better restaurants the main course can cost maximum 10 Euro, unless it is some imported see fish.
