“Macedonia should cease negotiations with Greece, show that it is not ready for a compromise for the name and has no intention to change it,” officials of the Macedonian Human Rights Movement International (MHRMI) and Macedonian Alliance stated at Wednesday’s press conference marking the start of campaign ‘Who gave you the right to negotiate my name?’. According to MHRMI’s coordinator Slavko Mangovski and leader of the Macedonian Alliance George Atanasovski, Greece wants to destroy the Macedonian language and identity, whereat EU and NATO undemocratically request that the country fulfil additional membership requirements. “We aspire for admission in the EU and NATO but without additional requirements such as change of the name. The negotiations should end since they show that Macedonia is prepared for a compromise, which is not true. We have to show that no one can negotiate the identity,” Mangovski said.
